ADORN,
to deck. (L.) Chaucer has adorneth, Troilus, iii. I.—Lat.
adornare, to deck.—Lat. ad, to, on; and ornare, to
deck. Curtius has no hesitation in stating that here the initial o
stands for va (or wa), so that Lat. ornare is to be
connected with Skt. varna, color, which is from
✔WAR
(Skt. vri), to cover over. See Ornament.
