a white priestly vestment. (F.,—L.) M.E. albe,

ii. 163.—O.F. albe, an alb.—Low Lat. alba, an alb;
fem. of Lat. albus, white. Cf. Gk. ἀλφός, a white rash; O.H.G. elbiz, a swan; See Curtius, i. 364. From the same root,
album, albumen.
