of Matt. vi. 13, &c.—Gk.
ἀμήν, verily.—Heb.
ámen, adv. verily,
so be it; from adj. ámen, firm, true, faithful; from vb. áman, to sustain,
support, found, fix. [†]

Heb. ’ámén; the initial
’álef
should be represented by the smooth breathing. The primary meaning
of the ✔
’áman is 'to be firm, to be fixed;' the transitive meaning is
