ANTHROPOPHAGI,  cannibals.  (Gk.)   Used by Shak. Oth. i. 3. 144.   Lit. 'men-eaters.'   A Latinised plural of Gk. ἀνθρωπο-φάγος, adj. man-eating.—Gk. ἄνθρωπος, a man; and φαγεῖν, to eat.   On ἄνθρωπος, see Anthropology; φαγεῖν is from BHAG, to eat; cf. Skt. bhaksh, to eat, devour.   Der. anthropophag-y.
