CAPSULE,
a seed-vessel of a plant. (F.,—L.) 'The
little cases or capsules which contain the seed;' Derham,
Physico-Theology, bk. x. note 1. Sir T. Browne has capsulary;

3.—F. capsule, 'a little chest or coffer;' Cot.—Lat.
capsula, a small chest; dimin. of capsa, a chest,
repository.—Lat. capere, to hold, contain.—✔KAP,
