CHRONIC,
a. [M.E. cronike,
cronyke; L. chronicus; Gr. chronikos, chronic,
of or for the time, from chronos, time.] 1.
Pertaining to time; having reference to time. 2.
Continuing a long time, as a disease. Chronic disease;
one which is inveterate or of long continuance, in distinction from
an acute disease, which speedily terminates. Also see Skeat's
