from Gk.
ζῷο-,
crude form of
ζῷον,
a living creature; and -λογία, allied to
λόγος, a discourse, from
λέγειν, to speak. See Zodiac
and Logic. Der.
zoologi-c-al, zoolog-ist. ¶
Pronounced zo-o, the o's being separate.
