ABERDEEN, ABERDENE.  (Celtic and Gaelic)  From the name of a city in Aberdeenshire, from which the surname was taken.  It is composed of aber, marshy ground, a place where two ore more streams meet; and Don, the name of a river, at the mouth of which it is situated.
