ACTON.   Bardsley has:  A local name meaning "of Acton."  There are in England no less than sixteen parishes, hamlets, townships, &c., called Acton, i.e. the town or farmstead among the oaks. 

Dixon has ACTON (English), Oak-town.   (v. Towne.)

Arthur has:  ACTON.  (Saxon)  Local.  The oak-town or oak-hill—the name of atown in Middlesex, England, whence the name is derived.
