Norfolk both as a personal and a surname.   Although forgotten now, the name was evidently popular in its day and generation; cf. the place-name Algersthorp, co. Norf.

Arthur has:  ALGAR.  (Gaelic)   Noble.

Yonge gives the meaning "hall spear."
