baptismal name meaning "the son of Algod," a forgotten personal
name. Allgood, like Thoroughgood and Toogood, seems very complimentary,
but it is without doubt a baptismal name, as are they... Lower says Algod occurs
as a personal name before Domesday (Patr. Brit. p. 6).
