ALLMAN, ALMOND, ALLMOND, ALLMEN.   A local, or nickname meaning "the Alemaund," i.e. German; cf. Fr. Lallimond:  or still more locally "of Alemaigne," i.e. Germany; cf. Fr. D'Almaine.   With Almond cf. almond-furnace, i.e. a German furnace (H.E.D.); also... "the almond-leape," a German dance.
