AMMADON (Gaelic)
From amadan, a numskull, a simpleton; may be so called by way of antiphrasis,
because he was wise; as Ptolemy received the surname Philadelphus (from the
Greek φίλος, a lover or friend, and
ἀδελος, a brother), because he charged two
of his brothers with forming designs against his life, and then caused them to
be destroyed.
