ANCOCK.
A baptismal name meaning "the son of John,"
a vile variant of Hancock,
q.v.; cf. the common United States surname, Arrison.
It is interesting to note that Ancock is found in the county which had so
close a connexion with the Flemings,
who introduced Han, Hans, &c.
