is intrusive. "Antony, propyr name, Antonius":
Prompt. Parv. The name had become fairly popular in England in the
13th century, as having been borne by the great hermit of the 4th
century. He was the patron saint of the swineherd, and "as fat
as a Tantony pig," and "to follow like a Tantony pig," became
proverbial expressions; v. Yonge, i. 306; Halliwell, i. 67. "I
have behest a pygge to Saynt Antony"; v. Prompt. Parv. p. 29, and note by
Way.
