ARON, ARREND.
A
baptismal name meaning "the son of
Aaron." Generally of Jewish descent, but not necessarily so in all
cases. Arran with an excrescent d, became Arrend; cf.
gownd for gown, or Simmonds
for Simmons. There can be no doubt about the fact that Arrend
is Aaron in
disguise.
