ATHOW, ATTOE, ATTHOW, ATO.   Bardsley has:  A local name meaning "at the how"; v. How; cf. Attwell, Attwood, &c., for "at the well," "at the wood," &c.  With the variant Attoe, cf. Hoo and Hoe, q.v.

Arthur has:  ATHOW.   Local.  The same as Athill; how or hoo, a high place.
