Origin of the Surname COMEYN, DE
COMINGES.
|
|
COMEYN, or DE
COMINGES (as
it was anciently written). From Cominges, a town in France,
anciently called Lugdunum Convenarum, situated on a hill near the banks of
the river Garonne, so named because people of diverse countries assembled
together to dwell in that place. Comeyne or De Cominges went into
England with William the Conqueror.
