Dictionary of Family Names

Origin of the Surname WARWICK.

WARWICK.   The county town of Warwickshire, England.  Camden derives it from guarth, Cornish British, a safe-guard, a garrison, and wick, Saxon, a port or city.  Somner says it was formerly called "wearing-wick," from wear and wick, a harbor.
